Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. *The Collect for Purity is traditionally prayed towards the beginning of the liturgy for The Lord's Supper or Holy Communion, commonly called Holy Eucharist (Anglican standard text). It was translated from an 11th century prayer in Latin by Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556), which is believed to be based on Psalm 51.
