Starting Now: A Prayer of Confession & Submission

I’ve said it so many times, Lord:

Starting now, I’m going to stop this.

Starting now, I’m leaving this behind.

Starting now, I’m going to change.

Ad infinitum.

Then I realized something: I can’t start any of that and carry it to completion on my own or by my own strength or volition. I need you. I need your help.

So, let me say it differently, Lord:

Starting now, by your strength I’m taking the next step.

Starting now, by your grace I yield to your will.

Starting now, by your mercy I shall be conformed.

Starting now, by your touch I shall be transformed.

Starting now, by your power I am a new creation.

Starting now, by your love I am yours.
