Praying with Psalm 44

“Awake! Why do You sleep Adonai?" -Psalm 44:23

Will You always sleep through my storms? Do I not turn to You always? Have I slipped Your mind,

The moment I finish praying? Are You strengthening me? Or have I trusted in my own strength? Have I locked You out,

On the other side of my plans and schemes? Can I recall Your presence and love? Could I move a mountain with my bear hands? I have been asleep to my desperate need of You. Awake Lord! And I shall be awake. Bring me Your life, Adonai,

And I shall be alive. Amen.
