Praying with Psalm 17
Updated: Oct 11, 2022
“In righteousness I will see Your face. I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.” -Psalm 17:15 How many dreams have slipped my hands, and how many desires have I surrendered? What wants have I given over to despair and yet still cling to my heart like a limp, or an open wound? When I wake they are with me, when I lay down they lay with me, in my empty bed they rouse me every hour of the night. I am a son, but my soul looks like a stranger, I am a co-heir of Christ but my heart looks like a battle worn veteran begging for scraps. I am a child of God - and I am hunger, I am thirst, I am longing, and I am desire. Let these pains weaken every perishable thing in me until all that is death may die, and there is room for nothing but an ocean of Your likeness drenching all of me. For only You can satisfy, only You. Amen. For further devotion in song please listen to Thirst (live) by Phil Wickham
