Praying with Psalm 14
“The fool has said in his heart: There is no God.” -Psalm 14:1 If I have confessed the creed, my heart has expressed greed. With my lips I have spoken the words of love, while my heart fearfully grasps in lust. If I sing with my lungs ‘Christ is Lord,’ my soul screams ‘He is not here! Take what you can while you can!’ My heart has been a fool more times a day than I can say. Forgive my unbelief, Adonai Elohim, be Lord God of my heart, my every thought, and every deed. Help my wandering thoughts to be herded and captured, penned in the obedience of Christ, that I may know true union with the Father, by Your Spirit crying in me, hear my plea. Amen.
