Praying with Psalm 13
“How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily?” -Psalm 13:2 Is my heartache an endless winter? Are my longings forever walking and never arriving, never resting? Will our wounds ever cease their bleeding? Can we find shelter long enough for the stitches to not tear? How long will You hide Your face, Your presence, Your light from us? My own counsel in my soul is loathsome without You. You have come through before, but should desires burn for decades before I learn whatever lesson You are after? Restore my hope in You, redeem my desires in You. Come swiftly and let Your face greet mine with a holy honi, please Lord, let me breathe Your breath of life once more. Amen.
