Praying with Psalm 119: Samekh ס

“You are my hiding place and my shield, in Your word I hope.” -Psalm 119:114

Lord I confess, I have hid myself not in You, but from You. My fig leaf covering has been food, entertainment, and above all my hyper imaginative reasoning. How often I cover myself with my own thinking. Can a pebble carry the weight of a mountain? Can a mountain hide behind a blade of grass? Lord Jesus be my shield, Balm of Gilead cover my heart-mind, let me know Your thoughts, pray Your prayers, surrender what You surrender, and hold on to what You are holding, and let me hold onto You until everything that has failed to hide me is released from my grip. “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner,” hide me under Your shield, in the shadow of Your wing. Amen.
