Open Up, God: A Bold Plea

Open up, God.
Open your hands.
With them, receive this prayer.
Open your hands.
That I may eat from them.
That I may hold them.
That I may be led by them.
Open up, God.
Open your eyes.
With them, look upon me with love.
Open your eyes.
That I may find healing in them.
That I may find hope in them.
That I may know your gaze.
Open up, God.
Open your mouth.
With it, speak new mercies over me.
Open your mouth.
That I may be a sheep who knows your voice.
That I may hear your voice only.
That I may listen.
Open up, God.
Open your heart.
With it, love me ever so deeply.
Open your heart.
That I may know it.
That I may feel what you feel.
That I may know how to correctly feel.
Open up, God.
Open your mind.
With it, forget my sins as far as east to west.
Open your mind.
That I may know your thoughts.
That I may make your thoughts my thoughts.
That I may know the truth that sets free.
Open up, God.
Open your table.
With it, invite us to your feast.
Open your table.
That I may hunger and thirst for you.
That I may sit beside you.
That I may know your presence.
Open up, God.
And in so doing, open me up, too.
For I want to be like you.
