Kenosis: A Benediction

And now, as people marked by God’s blood, people covered in the blood of the one who emptied himself, may you bear this mark always. May you strive toward the things of God, strive not toward the world’s way, but toward the way of the God-man, Jesus. And as you do, may the world encounter Jesus’ transforming, up-ending, overturning, life-altering, community-changing way of life in you. Go in peace and empty yourselves knowing that, when you do, not only will someone else’s life be filled up, but that the Spirit will, as promised, fill you, too. Amen.
