I Get God: A Prayer of Thanks

Thank you for the reminder today, Lord, that when:
I give up greed, I get God;
I shun sin, I get God;
I turn from violence, I get God;
I relinquish my self(ish) will, I get God;
I refuse anger, I get God;
I turn the other cheek, I get God;
I cry a broken hallelujah, I get God;
I walk away from worldliness, I get God;
I leave lust behind, I get God;
I put away all pride, I get God;
I focus on truth, I get God;
I seek that which is noble, I get God;
I do what is right, I get God;
I long for what is pure, I get God;
I look to what is lovely, I get God;
I meditate on what is admirable, I get God;
I search out what is excellent, I get God;
I yearn for what is praiseworthy, I get God;
I embody love, I get God;
I maintain a disposition of love, I get God;
I hunger for peace, I get God;
I thirst after patience, I get God;
I hold on to kindness, I get God;
I cling to goodness, I get God;
I act in gentleness, I get God; and,
I embrace self-control, I get God.
But most of all, I'm just happy that
In giving myself to God, he in turn
Gives himself to me.
Indeed,
I get God.
Amen.
