Help Us Go, God: A Short Prayer

Father, forgive us, for we know not what we do.
We know not that we've done the opposite of
What you commanded. You told us to "Go!"
But, like Nimrod and the builders of Babel,
We've stopped. We've built. We've remained stationary.
And we've subscribe to the lie that,
"If we build it, they will come." Forgive us, God.
We've traded your commission to "Go!" for
A lazy (c)omission of our own: "Stay!"
We've become a church, a people focused on "Stay!"
We want a building that's permanent, so we can stay.
We want to stay put. We want people to come to us.
We've traded the rich call to "Go!" for our
Poor vision of "Stay!" One where, instead of
Going we buy into the lie that they'll "Come" to us.
You commissioned us. You've called us to mission.
But we've decommissioned ourselves. We've stayed put.
Father, forgive us for that. Help us to be an obedient people.
A people who finally "Go!" A Great Commission people. Amen.
