But you have delivered me

I've run from you, tried to flee and hide

I've boarded a ship whilst seeking my own direction

I've been swallowed up, engulfed, surrounded in the depths

But you have delivered me

I've been imprisoned in my sin as if in the ribs of the great fish

But you have delivered me

Like Jonah, O Lord, I've gone down into the watery grave

But you have delivered me

I've hit rock bottom

But you have delivered me

I've feared for my life

But you have delivered me

I've sat in the darkness, uncomfortable and squeezed

But you have delivered me

I've forgotten you until the last moment

But you have delivered me

Like Jonah, O Lord, I've gone down into the belly of Sheol

But you have delivered me

I've never experienced greater loneliness than without you

But you have delivered me

I've sat like a rock, hardened at the water's bottom

But you have delivered me

I've sunken like the mountains' bases down below the surface

But you have delivered me

I've wanted to quit, to drown in my tears

But you have delivered me

Like Jonah, O Lord, you've brought me up from the bottom

Amen! You have delivered me

I've been thrown up to my feet so I can stand again

Amen! You have delivered me

I've been taught by you, that I am your ambassador

Amen! You have delivered me

I've had my lips burnished with the call to repentance

I've had my heart-mind renewed and consecrated to you alone
