A Prayer for Goodness

Tov | טוב

You are tov, the only good. There is no good apart from You. Without You I can not see good. Without You I can not hear good. Without You I can not touch or taste good. Without You I can not be good, nor deserving of good. I do not deserve Your cross, but if I had deserved it, I would have had no need of it. Yet with great need, and no merit for Your good, You died, You rose, and ascended to the seat of authority at the right hand of the Father that I might be made good like You. And Your tov has haunted my steps since the day I was born. I did not know to find it, nor desired to follow it, but it has hunted me. Your good always initiates, reaches first, loves first. For you are first, the only good. There is no good apart from You. Thank you for making me good in Christ Jesus,

and thank You for the good that is yet to come,

until all death has died within me. Amen.
